The Idea


So, the idea. 


I've already stated that one of the central mechanics would be the gathering of resources for the hungry pups. This is still going to be within the game but I'm going to tweak its original purpose. Rather than it being the sole goal for the game, I'm, instead,  going to make a timer that forces the player to return to the forest. This'll help the player be constantly on the move and not slack on this task since if the pups starve, its game over.


Since this is no longer the central mechanic of the game, I need to add something else as the major appeal of the game instead. During the second revive, I had this idea of a festival going on somewhere else in the town as for a reason why there was no humans within the level. I wanted to expand on this by keeping said festival but having the humans be something that the player wants to avoid as they hinder or even want rid of them. 


Speaking of setting, I obviously want to go for a more urban setting, but I don't really want to go for an ultra dense neighbourhood. I was more aiming for a less dense style neighbourhood with smaller alleyways and small, compact houses. This is meant to help the player find places that they can hide from the humans and potential places I can hide valuable resources for the player.

But that's all I have for now really. I just wanted to expand on the idea a bit more and give better context. For now, I'm going to work on the movement system and will give an update once that's up and working.
